Moving Tips

  • Start packing well in advance, preferably 2- 3 weeks before the moving date.
  • Use good moving boxes. These can be purchased at the moving company, and can be delivered to your residence in good time before removal. Do not pack things that can be broken into plastic bags. It’s okay to pack clothes in plastic bags, but make sure they do not become so heavy that the bags break when they are being moved.
  • Fill the boxes so that the content is steady.
  • No boxes should weigh more than 25 kg. For books we recommend ordering special package. Add the heaviest objects at the bottom on the box, and the lightest at the top.
  • Glass and porcelain wrapped in white paper (available by movers).
  • Extract layered with standing plates in bottom and layer upon layer of service and glass top.
  • Fill all gaps with paper, and wrap compact boxes. Also note boxes if necessary with “Fragile Glass” and lose again at the top.
  • Photos and paintings set in flat pack boxes if the frame can withstand it. If it’s gypsum frames on the paintings, these should be packed in special picture cartons.
  • Keys and screws from dismantled furniture kept in separate plastic bags in a separate box.
  • Large cabinets etc. should be transported empty when even locked doors can go up during transport.
  • Food and floating things. Bottles etc. tapes to prevent leaks. Note carton at the top with “This side up”
  • Lawn mower / blower should be emptied of gasoline and aired in good time before it is loaded on the moving vehicle.
